I am just trying my hand at pouring a 2 step section of stairs. It is for an existing patio that we've had about 2 months. I floated the stairs, waited for the bleed water to evaporate, and then did the edging and control joint between the stairs and patio. All seemed to go well. Now the problem....

National Gallery Millenium wing (floating stairs) - Irish Architecture Planning Forums
hi! Does anyone know the construction details for the 'floating' stairs in the entrance hall of the National Gallery. The treads on the stairs seem to be made of terrazzo or some kind of precast concrete and appear to float- but are held in place by hidden metal bolts.

how come building control don't like em? the joiner reckons he can knock one up pretty easily, instead of paying between 400 and 750 quid for a few pieces of 6 x 2, his words not mine.

I want to remove the cupboard under my staircase but want to make sure that the loading support/forces are not reliant on the cupboard wall in any way - I wouldn't want to compromise the stairs stability.

interesting staircase to the rear of 54/55 middle abbey street.... there's a travel agents there beside the old chapters bookshop (now a bar)... down the corridor there is a terrazo and concrete staircase rising the height of the building from basement to top... six floors... brass handrail...
