In this case I think I used 1 x 2, 2" being the depth of the ledge. Cut to length, orient on the wall and mark location of studs. Drill holes through the 2" dimension at marks, and another larger countersink approx. halfway through.

Concrete Home - Insulating Concrete Forms • View topic - ICF the Way to go For DIYers

I'm using TF system ICF for my foundation walls. ICF is a great technology, IMHO. It can be a little on the pricey side, but you get a very strong wall (The Styrofoam holds the water in and allows the concrete to be fully hydrated while it cures.) For a DIY'er, I think it's the best way to go.

DIY New Tool

Bob C - Since this was mild steel and I am only using it on 8 holes, I didnt' worry about heat treating. I got thru about 2/3 of the holes last night and I stopped and resharpened it once. Am cutting lodgepole, so it cuts pretty easy.

Asbestos panels in the home - Thames Laboratories

I am renovating my home, and have found that a small number of wall panels and ceiling panels are made of asbestos (e.g. in place of plasterboard). These panels are largely undisturbed, but one or two have been broken accidentally during DIY (before I realised they were asbestos). 1.
