I've got the Alpine ida-x100 which only has Ipod capabilities (no cd). Last night I re-downloaded some cd's using the Apple Lossless format, instead of the normal compressed format. What a difference in sound quality! I highly recommend trying it if

Probably USB drivers. What is the Linux distro and version? You should be able to plug the USB cable into the computer and mount the usb device. SUSE will automount as some others will too.
