IMEC to Establish Research Center in Hsinchu, Taiwan

IMEC (Leuven, Belgium) said that it has established a representative office, IMEC Taiwan, in the Hsinchu Science Park. The office is expected to grow into an R&D center within the coming six months, the consortium announced.

NXP Semiconductor, founded by Philips, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Limited (TSMC) have announced they will strengthen their cooperation to include advanced R&D in CMOS process technologies as well as manufacturing partnership.
Toshiba, IBM to Co-develop 32nm Bulk CMOS Process - Tech-On!
The two companies have been collaborating in fundamental research on semiconductor process technologies at 32nm and beyond at research facilities in Yorktown and Albany, New York since December 2005.
