Welcome. I am a Professsor Emeritus in the Systems Control Group of The University of Toronto. My area of research includes algebraic structure theory of complex control systems, and supervisory control of discrete-event systems. The following items relate to my activities and interests.

I received my M.Sc. E.E. from Aalborg University in 1992 and my Ph.D. from Aalborg University in 1996. My Ph.D. thesis is called "Sensor Planning with Bayesian Decision Analysis".
Balfour Beatty
There are about 150 people in my office, but somehow it doesn't feel big. There's almost a family feel to it in many ways. I suppose what I really like is that everyone's different, and between them they cover just about every angle you could think of in relation to highway maintenance.

Shelly joined CSR in April 2008 as Research Finance Secretary. Shelly has also worked as Receptionist (covering a 6 month maternity leave) in the School of Computing, general office.

Professor Tropper's primary research interest is in the area of parallel discrete event simulation and more generally in parallel computing. Discrete event simulations are of fundmental importance in designing VLSI systems, computer networks, manufacturing systems among a plethora of systems.
