What Are Pancakes? Pancakes are a great inexpensive way to buy tape and not have to invest in the cost of metal reels. Maybe you have a bunch of metal reels with old, bad, spliced up tape and you want to simply replace the tape.

Emtec Introduces First Truly Mobile & Secure Clinical Workstation Solution for the Healthcare
MARLTON, N.J., Nov 03, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Announcement:
-- Emtec, Inc. (OTCBB:ETEC), an information technology systems and services company, today announced the immediate availability of its Mobile Clinical Workstation solution for the healthcare market. This solution integrates smart card technology, thin-client computing and mobile workstations to meet the needs of staff members, patients and regulators. Caregivers can quickly access the patient and medical information they are authorized to view in order to more efficiently provide quality care while still maintaining HIPAA compliance.
Current Industry Solutions Limitations:
-- There are currently a number of products and solutions on the market that somewhat address these issues. Computers-on-wheels (COW's), laptops, and tablets have been used for a number of years. COW's or computers mounted on rolling workstation carts, have limited battery lives. Since the computer is mounted right on the cart, any computer maintenance has to be done right on the cart, making it unavailable for use and expensive to maintain. There are also security issues with some of the data being stored locally on the COW. Laptops and tablets are similar, and because of their portability, are prone to be stolen or misplaced.
Key Healthcare IT Challenges:
-- Many caregivers are spending 50-60 percent of their time doing administrative tasks rather than delivering care due to the lack of key technologies not being implemented.
-- Meeting the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Caregivers' need for instant access to patient information from anywhere in the facility and IT leaders' need to maintain the security and integrity of the organizational process and information.
-- Inefficiencies abound at a critical time when patient volumes and technology dependencies are increasing dramatically.
Emtec Mobile Clinical Workstation Solution Overview:
-- The solution merges the power of thin-client computing with smart card technology to create mobile or fixed workstations enabling caregivers to instantly access their personalized computer workspace from any location at any time in a secure, centrally managed environment. When these two technologies are combined, staff members can use their smart cards to pull up their personalized workstations that provide them access to all of the programs and data that are necessary for their jobs in less than 10 seconds.
-- When a user is ready to access their PC desktop, they simply insert their personal smart card into either a fixed or mobile thin-client workstation. The user is then prompted for a password. Within several seconds, their personal desktop appears on the thin-client's screen, ready to use. Once they are finished and ready to move on, they simply remove the smart card, and the screen goes blank ready for the next user's unique smart card to be inserted. This is desktop portability, meaning that as a user moves around the hospital, from mobile workstation to mobile workstation, floor to floor, building to building, their personal desktop follows them around. In the hospital's data center, their desktop is still running, waiting on them to log in via their smart card to use again. Their data is backed up, secure and unavailable to others without proper access.
Quotes for Attribution:
-- "Many healthcare providers are turning to Emtec for help in solving IT challenges. With a rich history of fusing leading edge technologies with expertise in business processes, Emtec is uniquely qualified to help caregivers get back to administering high quality patient care, and decreasing time spent on documentation, while giving IT leaders a means to more effectively manage security, compliance and uptime." Frank Blaul, EVP Sales and Marketing, Emtec
-- "Emtec, based on its knowledge of the healthcare industry and systems integration experience has developed the first, truly mobile clinical workstation on the market. This solution meets the goal of faster, more secure access to patient information by caregivers. In turn, this makes caregivers more productive and able to spend more quality time with their patients. Healthcare facilities are better able to meet HIPPA security regulations and can more easily and economically manage computing end points." Ron Lindsay, Healthcare Manager, Emtec

Emtec Selected to Provide End-to-End Technology Services and Solutions to 160 Duval County Public
MARLTON, N.J., Oct 13, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Emtec, Inc. (OTCBB:ETEC), an information technology systems and services company, today announced that Duval County Public Schools (DCPS), the 19th-largest school district in the U.S. based in Jacksonville, Florida, selected the company to supply and implement a new technology infrastructure for more than 160 schools (105 elementary, 26 middle, 19 high, and 11 other centers and charter schools) and approximately 125,000 students. This contract is a one-year contract with four subsequent one-year renewals should Duval wish to extend at the end of each year for a total of five years. The school district is working on an initiative called "DCPS Schools of the Future", which is intended to maximize student achievement and student engagement through the use of technology.
Emtec empowers students by providing a full range of technologies to the County including: HP servers, server options, storage, and storage options; Lexmark printers; Lenovo desktops, laptops, high-end workstations, monitors, options, and thin clients; APC uninterruptable power supplies; Avocent KVM's and RKM's, Microsoft Software; VMWare Software; and miscellaneous hardware and software. Emtec will also provide an array of services including, but not limited to, all the installation services of Apple desktop and laptops, and the products of the previously mentioned companies, project management services, and disposal services.
Several projects that Emtec is working on is to replace or upgrade approximately 5,000 desktops, 2000 laptops, and 4000 classroom printers in some of the district's schools, and outlying administrative offices between late October 2008 through April 2009, while also installing servers in 34 schools from late October 2008 through June 2008. In addition, Emtec worked closely with the school district's IT team to identify which machines could be upgraded and which would need to be replaced. To date, approximately 5,000 PCs have been upgraded from Windows 2000 to XP, with another 16,000 replaced with Lenovo desktops. The large scope and compressed time frame made it a substantially challenging project, but given Emtec's vast expertise they were able to complete it on time and within budget.
"We've worked with Duval County Public schools for the past six years and were involved in technology refreshes at more than 75 school buildings during that time," said Ron Seitz, president, Emtec Systems. "By choosing Emtec, Duval County Public schools are receiving the benefit of Emtec's knowledge and experience to provide a wide range of services and products which enhances their ability to accomplish the goals they have set to continue to provide their students, teachers, and administration with leading edge technology."
