SANTA ANA, Calif., Nov 24, 2009 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
The logistics division of Ingram Micro Inc. (NYSE: IM), the world's largest technology distributor, is gearing up to ship more than 3 million units per week across North America this holiday season. With less than 7 days until Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Ingram Micro's eight advanced logistics centers (ALC) are ready to help move this season's hot gifts to your door.

"Last year, the growing popularity of e-tail businesses helped us deliver a single-day shipping record the day after Black Friday, when we filled more than 250,000 orders," said Terry Tysseland, senior vice president, Operations and Supply Chain, North America. "In the last eight weeks of the year, we typically ship an average of 3 to 4 million units per week. That's approximately 300 items per minute or enough to provide one holiday gift in each of those weeks to every man, woman, and child living in the city of Chicago," Tysseland said.
Tysseland expects another busy holiday season flowing through Ingram Micro's state-of-the art logistics centers this year. He said the electronics that are on the top of many holiday wish-lists--everything from toys and games to PCs and TVs--all move through the Ingram Micro logistics machine.
Once consumers click, Ingram Micro starts to ship. Both e-tailers and consumers expect that the purchased goods will arrive in time for the holidays, making on-time and accurate shipping critical. Ingram Micro delivers anywhere in North America within three days and is proud of its shipping accuracy rate of 99.9 percent.
"We're ready to process another multi-million-unit season," Tysseland added. "We have over four million square feet of warehouse space and 27 miles of conveyance systems ready to deliver holiday gifts to every corner of the continent."
