Insyde Software Releases UEFI Firmware for New Intel(R) System-On-A-Chip - Zibb.com

Insyde Software, a leading provider of Universal Extensible Firmware Interface (UEFI) based firmware, BIOS and engineering services today announced the availability of its InsydeH2O(TM) UEFI firmware solution for the Intel(R) EP80579 Integrated Processor product line. With the release of this latest version of InsydeH2O, Insyde Software continues to add to their already broad UEFI BIOS portfolio with Intel compatibility.

The Intel(R) EP80579 Integrated Processor product line integrates several key system components into single Intel(R) Architecture-based chips. These Intel system-on-a-chip (SOCs) deliver significant improvements in power-efficient throughput performance and form factor by reducing the chip footprint size by up to 45 percent and power consumption by up to 30 percent, compared to a standard four-chip design in embedded and communications market segments.

"Intel's product gives our customers a compelling SOC design choice for their next family of embedded devices," said Jonathan Joseph, Executive Vice President of Insyde Software. "InsydeH2O continues to enable our customers' innovations on Intel Architecture with UEFI technology."

"The Intel EP80579 product line provides an attractive solution for customers that require fast time-to-market on products requiring high levels of integration, low power and a small form factor," said Rose Schooler, general manager, Embedded Performance Products Division, Intel.

Insyde Software, along with their partner ADI Engineering, will showcase several demonstrations of InysdeH2O support of the Intel EP80579 Integrated Processor product line at the upcoming Intel(R) Developer Forum (IDF) being held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, August 19-21, 2008

Vision Solutions, the leading high availability and disaster recovery solutions provider for IBM Power Systems markets, today announced an important milestone in its global market roll-out of EchoCluster for AIXby passing compatibility testing with IBM's BladeCenter JS21 Express and SAN hardware. The validation benchmark was conducted on hardware at IBM's Shenzhen Power Systems testing facility in Chinaby team members from both IBM and Vision's AIX development laboratory near Boston.

"We're pleased to see Vision continually supporting the rapidly growing mid-market of IBM Power Systems with this latest certification on JS21 Blade Servers," says Liu Hong Bin, manager of Systems & Technology Group channel enablement, IBM China."Given the demand, this new combination is likely to do very well."

Vision Solutions' EchoCluster keeps AIX applications up and running through continuous server monitoring and immediate, automated failover to a secondary server, ensuring IBM customers keep critical applications highly available on local or remote servers. In support of Vision's goal to offer affordable and innovative disaster recovery solutions for the SMB marketplace, EchoCluster can be used in conjunction with EchoStream for data replication with any-point-in-time Continuous Data Protection (CDP). This combination is an excellent choice for heterogeneous storage environments resulting from mergers and acquisitions, offering full ROI on all current hardware.

"We continue to build upon our excellent working relationship with IBM's Shenzhen test-center team. This recent milestone validates our EchoCluster and EchoStream solutions are compatible with IBM's BladeCenter and DS3400 storage environments," says Henry Martinez, senior vice president of engineering for Vision. "Our collaboration allows us to reduce time to market while increasing product quality, which fills an emerging market need of solid performance, low-complexity and price-point compatibility on IBM's Power blades."

With affordable pricing, ease-of-use functionality and an installation typically measured in days, EchoCluster and EchoStream provide workable solutions for companies of all sizes.

"Enjoying the safety of nonstop, automated protection of the bank's data in a highly sensitive production environment saves time, money and labor and creates ever more trust and confidence for our customers," says Deputy IT Director for the Russia's Raiffeisenbank and current client, Alexander Makarov.

Passing the prestigious benchmark further extends Vision Solutions' value proposition for mid-market customers by supporting EchoCluster and EchoStream on new IBM platforms such as the BladeCenter, including options for consolidating and sharing data on compatible platforms such as the IBM DS3400.

ABM Integrating Acquisition with IBM Help - Zibb.com

IBM announced that it would continue assisting ABM Industries, a facility services contractor, with technology integration services for finance and human capital management as well as business process standardization.

The companies signed a new services contract for $3.5M under their existing 7 year master services agreement to assist with the ongoing integration of One Source Building Services, agreement extending their two-year relationship to include ABM's ongoing integration of OneSource Building Services, which ABM acquired in Fall 2007. ABM is currently 15 months into a major transformation project with IBM to replace its existing financial, payroll and benefits administration systems. Under the agreement IBM Global Business Services will assist in the final phases of the migration of OneSource's financial and payroll business operations onto ABM's existing new technology platform.

"The integration of the OneSource operations is on plan and performing well," said Cathie Beadel, Vice President and Chief Information Officer for ABM Industries. "IBM has been assisting in the integration at various levels and this final phase is a natural extension of that work as IBM is a great choice to partner with us in these last phases of the project since they have had a significant role in the past two years building our core technology platform for finance and human capital management."

In this phase, IBM Global Business Services will use its human capital management and technology expertise to standardize business processes and integration with legacy systems. This initiative is in conjunction with the ongoing IBM Global Business Services project to enhance ABM's financial and payroll platforms as well as ABM's shared services environment. The expanded scope took effect in June 2008. The original master services agreement was signed in September 2006.

"As ABM continues to grow, IBM has the unique capability to blend its expertise in project management with its know-how in technology and application management to help the company continue to expand," said Shawn Permann, Partner, IBM Global Business Services. "IBM's scalable and flexible tools and services support the current and planned growth."
