M'BISHI RAYON TO SHRINK ACRYLIC FIBER OPS TO LIFT PROFITABILITY - Zibb.com
TOKYO, May 07, 2008 (AsiaPulse via COMTEX) --
Mitsubishi Rayon Co. (TSE:3404) plans to reduce its acrylic fiber production capacity roughly 30 per cent by fiscal 2010, which ends March 31, 2011, to help improve profitability at its acrylic fiber business.
According to the major acrylic fiber producer's three-year business blueprint through fiscal 2010, the company also will withdraw from some money-losing chemical operations.
Mitsubishi Rayon's acrylic fiber production facilities in Japan and China have a combined output capacity of 182,000 tons a year. It aims to lower this figure to 132,000 tons by reducing the production of general-purpose acrylic fiber and shifting its focus toward high-value-added variations of the material.
Some Japanese acrylic fiber production facilities may be converted to produce carbon fiber yarn. The firm intends to boost sales from its carbon fiber operations by 17 per cent from fiscal 2007 to 55 billion yen (US$525.96 million) in fiscal 2010.
Mitsubishi Rayon has set a goal of achieving 500 billion yen in sales in fiscal 2010. Its return on equity in that year is expected to come to 8.5 per cent.
The company plans to raise capital investment between fiscal 2008 and 2010 to 130 billion yen, up 36 per cent from the preceding three years.
Taking into account higher fuel and materials prices, Mitsubishi Rayon forecasts an operating profit of 40 billion yen in fiscal 2010, largely unchanged from 39.6 billion yen fiscal 2007.

Mitsubishi UFJ Lease assigned 'A1' long term issuer rating - Moody's - Zibb.com
BANGALORE, May 07, 2008 (Thomson Financial via COMTEX) --
Moody's Investor Service assigned an 'A1' long-term issuer rating and a 'Prime-1' commercial paper rating to Mitsubishi UFJ Lease & Finance Co. Ltd., citing the company's standalone financial strengths represented by its franchise, financial fundamentals and risk positioning and management.
Moody's also said the ratings reflect the probability of support to the leasing company from the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group (MUFG) and its core bank, Bank of Tokyo Mitsubishi UFJ (BTMU), in case of stress.
Moody's said the outlook for all the ratings is stable, reflecting its view that Mitsubishi UFJ Lease will maintain its franchise value backed by its relationship with the Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group.
The rating agency said Mitsubishi UFJ Lease, with a strong customer base and firm footing in its main business area, has expanded its non-leasing business activities, which Moody's believes could contribute to the diversification of earning sources.
Mitsubishi UFJ Lease has also implemented an integrated risk management structure which addresses and measures a number of categorised risks and represents the management's advanced approach towards risk management, Moody's added. TFN.newsdesk@thomson.com ume/jro

Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America Announces New Relationship With NVIDIA Corporation and Aspen
IRVINE, Calif., June 23, 2008 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --
Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America, Inc. today announced a new relationship with NVIDIA(R) Corporation and Aspen Media Products, LLC, to provide the first complete 3D solution for the home entertainment market. For the first time ever, high-value 3D content will become available to the consumer at home in one convenient package.
"Mitsubishi, a leader in large screen HDTV, NVIDIA, a major force in the entertainment graphics market and Aspen Media Products, an innovator in media server technology, have each developed unique technologies that take us to the next level in realizing the dream of 3D home entertainment," said David Naranjo, director of product development, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America. By combining the strengths of these three market leading companies, 3D in the home is now ready to become an exciting reality."
For years, NVIDIA's successful GeForce FX Go series of graphics processing units (GPUs) have delivered breakthrough 3D imagery primarily for the PC Gamer. Its GeForce 3D stereoscopic technology is a driver for Windows Vista(R), which renders two views for stereoscopic display systems to show depth with Microsoft(R) DirectX(R) games. The 3D stereoscopic driver is compatible with all GeForce 7 series and higher GPUs, which in turn are compatible with Mitsubishi's 3D-ready Home Theater TVs.
"NVIDIA is extremely excited about its new relationship with Mitsubishi and Aspen Media Products, and is fully committed to bringing 3D technology to the home entertainment market," said Ujesh Desai, general manager, NVIDIA Corporation. "This is an unparalleled industry first, and we are proud to play a key role in providing a complete 3D home entertainment solution to the consumer."
Aspen Media Products focus is on the integration of best-of-breed products and services that enhance the user experience, and the delivery of best-in-class technology to marry entertainment with simplicity.
"The Aspen Media Server has delivered on-demand music, movies and other entertainment programming to the home since its introduction. Now with the increased production of 3D content such as movies, live events, concerts and sports, the Aspen Media server provides an ideal platform to deliver the latest in 3D entertainment technology to the consumer," said John Oliver, chief executive officer, Aspen Media Products. "We are excited to work with two great industry leaders, Mitsubishi Digital Electronics America and NVIDIA, to bring this amazing new solution to consumers."
Mitsubishi's entire product line of Home Theater TVs feature 3D-ready technology. The company continues to lead the competition with the largest Home Theater HDTV available at 73". This year's product line includes three new 73" models along with 60" and 65" sizes -- all featuring thinner frames, increased brightness and 3D-ready capability. Mitsubishi's 1080p Home Theater TVs provide unparalleled picture quality that far exceeds competitive displays, and deliver an optimal experience to enjoy the new generation of 3D home entertainment.

Japan's Mitsubishi affirmed at 'A+'; outlook stable - Fitch - Zibb.com
MUMBAI, Jun 25, 2008 (Thomson Financial via COMTEX) --
Fitch Ratings said it affirmed Mitsubishi Corp.'s 'A+' long-term foreign and local currency issuer default ratings, citing its leading position as the largest of Japan's general trading companies in terms of sales, net profit and total assets.
The ratings also incorporate the company's sound equity base.
The stable outlook reflects Fitch's expectation that Mitsubishi's net debt equity ratio will remain at the current level as its debt will keep increasing in proportion to the improvement of its equity base.
At the same time, the ratings agency has affirmed and simultaneously withdrawn Mitsubishi's 'F1+' short-term foreign and local currency ratings. tfn.newsdesk@thomson.com pvi/ssa
