AirTran Airways Scores a Touchdown by Signing Matt Ryan - Zibb.com
ORLANDO, Fla., Aug 07, 2008 /PRNewswire-FirstCall via COMTEX/ --
AirTran Airways, a subsidiary of AirTran Holdings, Inc. (NYSE: AAI), has signed another athlete for its sports advertising campaign in Atlanta by signing Matt Ryan, the third overall pick in the 2008 NFL Draft. Ryan will be featured in radio spots and high-impact billboards across the Atlanta area starting August 11, 2008.
"As Matt Ryan embarks on his pro career, we are excited to have the future NFL signal caller join the AirTran team," said Tad Hutcheson, AirTran Airways' vice president of marketing and sales. "Given the predictions of superstardom for the young quarterback, we view this signing as a major score for our company, and AirTran Airways plans to continue scoring here in Atlanta by offering our passengers low fares, great service and unique amenities."
Ryan was the 2007 ACC Player of the Year and an early Heisman Trophy favorite. He compiled a 25-7 record as a starter for the Boston College Golden Eagles and was widely regarded as the best quarterback in the 2008 Draft. Thanks to the numerous comeback victories he had for the Eagles, Ryan carried the nickname "Matty Ice" during his college career because of his calm demeanor under pressure.
Ryan joins Atlanta stars Keith Brooking and Brian Finneran on the AirTran Airways' roster of endorsers.
