Hotel revenue per available room (revpar) grew by 6.2% in London but fell by 10.9% in the regions in the week ending 7 November 2009, according to figures from hospitality research company STR Global. Revpar at London hotels grew to £106.44, up from £100.26 in the equivalent week of 2008.

STR's forecast projects 2011 occupancy to be up 2.4 percent to 56.2 percent, average daily rate to increase 3.0 percent to US$96.81, and revenue per available room to jump 5.5 percent to US$54.41. 'For the first time since 2007 occupancy will improve in 2011,' said Mark Lomanno, president of STR.

October data from Pegasus Solutions shows bookings and net revenue figures climbing back to 2008 levels. Corporate bookings jumped 3.5% and leisure bookings were up 21%year-over-year.

Occupancy fell 8.7 percent in October and room rates were off nearly 14.6 percent compared to the same month last year, when occupancy fell more than 5 percent and room rates were flat, said Smith Travel Research. Orlando-area occupancy was 57.5 percent in October, down from 61.
