Leadis Ramps with Production Shipments of QVGA LTPS TFT LCD Display Driver for Mobile Phones -
Zibb.com | Jul 26, 2008
Leadis Technology, an analog and mixed-signal semiconductor developer of LCD display drivers, power management ICs, white/RGB LED drivers, audio ICs, and touch controllers for mobile consumer electronic devices, announced it has shipped its first one million units of the LDS342, a QVGA LTPS LCD display driver for the Nokia E71 mobile phone.
The LDS342 was developed in a close working relationship with Sharp Corp.
The LDS342 is a landscape QVGA LTPS LCD driver targeted at mobile consumer applications. It has integrated full frame memory to support up to 16M colors thereby reducing power consumption dramatically over RAMless designs. The device also supports 128 gray levels, 6:1 Mux, 4 Gamma sets, and external EEPROM, the company said.
"The LDS342 is a perfect single chip LCD driver for LTPS landscape QVGA applications," said Keeho Kim, General Manager of the Display Driver Business at Leadis. "We are also quite pleased to be working with Sharp and Nokia to introduce a higher quality display."

Leadis Technology Expands Linear Regulator Portfolio - Zibb.com
SUNNYVALE, CA, Jun 16, 2008 (MARKET WIRE via COMTEX) --
Leadis Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: LDIS), an analog and mixed-signal semiconductor developer of color display drivers, power management ICs, white/RGB LED drivers, audio ICs, and touch controllers for mobile consumer electronic devices, today announced sample availability of the LDS1541P, a Low Drop Out linear regulator (LDO) with ENABLE delivering 1 A continuous load current.
The LDS1541P replaces 1117-type LDOs, which have to use an external discrete switch to implement ENABLE and sequencing functions in multi-rail applications. Output voltage tolerance over the full operating load, line and temperature range is assured by the self-correcting AcuRef(TM) bandgap reference, yielding +/-1.5% overall accuracy. The SOT-223-3 package provides the ENABLE function within the standard footprint without compromising thermal performance. Built-in current limiting, overload and thermal shutdown with hysteresis provide robust operation without exceeding safe junction temperature limits. The LDS1541P, offered with 1.8 V, 2.5 V and 3.3 V fixed or adjustable output, is stable with 1 uF MLC filter capacitors. Applications for this versatile LDO include graphics cards, PC motherboards, LCD-TV and SMPS post regulation.
"The number of power rails on a system card is increasing together with the requirement for active power management for increased energy efficiency," said Paul Greenland, Senior Director of Power Management Marketing at Leadis Technology. "The LDS1541P integrates the ENABLE function in a smaller solution footprint without sacrificing electrical or thermal performance, thereby liberating valuable system board area and increasing reliability."
