The news follows Orange's announcement Monday that it will start selling the iPhone, a move that will end O2's two-year exclusivity on Apple's popular handset.
Forget the BlackBerry Storm2 9520 that Vodafone rolled out on the 26th October (free on a two year, £30 a month contract). Forgot it? Aces. There's some brand new pretend-iPhone goodness coming in the shape of the Samsung 360 H1 on the 30th of October.

The UK merger between Orange and T-Mobile will not require any regulatory concessions to gain approval, reports Total Telecom citing comments by Olaf Swantee, Orange global mobile head, at the FT World Telecoms Conference in London. Swantee said he did not believe that concessions would be necessary and dismissed a suggestion that the merged group would be forced to give up some of its spectrum. Swantee stressed that Orange and T-Mobile hold 1,800 MHz spectrum, with rivals O2 and Vodafone holding 900 MHz spectrum in the UK. He insisted that the merged group will still need to invest more to match the superior indoor coverage provided by 900 MHz spectrum, and that the merger was good for the market, consumers and the entire mobile sector. Rival Vodafone appears to support the merger. Michel Combes, CEO for Europe region for Vodafone Group, said that competition in the UK mobile market would remain extremely intense if the merger proceeds. He said that Vodafone supported consolidation in some markets, but declined to comment on whether regulators would impose conditions on the merger.

The network of Vodafone Netherlands is again fully operational. Although the network failure was resolved on Wednesday, it took until Thursday evening for Vodafone's 5 million subscribers to be able to normally call and send SMSs, due to the traffic pile-up of calls and SMSs that had to be worked through. The network failure began at one of Vodafone's four traffic gates in the Netherlands. The hubs ensure the connection for phone calls, SMSs and other data connections. The hub failure had effects on other parts of the network. The exact reason for the failure is still being investigated by Vodafone technical specialists. Vodafone earlier experienced large scale network problems in September and October, both times with its data network. The third failure in less than two months affected both the GSM and UMTS network.
