Question for all you Minnesota North Dakotans. Does anyone know if there is a group health insurance plan for small independents? It seems to us that it would save a lot of money if we could all join together into one group insurance plan. Any ideas? Has this been explored?

May be it is best to give money to the general fund (i.e., not tied to a particular area or disaster) of an organization with international reputation, e.g., Save the Children, etc. That way their staff can decide where the money is needed and where they can put resoures into effectively.

Just wanted to share two thoughts: 1) My insurance agent said that if the jewelry I'm insuring is not in said safe and a robbery occurres, there might be a question of whether it's covered. He says if it's valuable enough to insure, it's valuable enough to lock up.

I'm curious to ask: What insurance do you use for your jewelry? How do you decide what to insure and what not to? I use Chubb because they were the only ones I could find that have a policy that allows you to be reimbursed for your loss and then choose your own replacement.

I used to have a rider policy with my homeowner's insurance but, I discovered that if something were lost, my insurance company would find a replacement. They would not compensate me for the loss so *I* could replace it. THEY would decide what a comparable piece was. I didn't like that idea.
