Hello Morna, This is one of my vintage costume bracelets - gorgeous silver clasp, set with glass or paste stones - on four rows of glass pearls; the spacer bars are silver, too. And these beads are knotted between each one.
Diamond Review > Lucious Lime Beaded Sterling Silver Bracelet
Luscious lime with pearl and sterling silver beads. It's a "kick butt" bracelet but her attitude is kept in check by the pearls and bali sterling silver swirly beads which subdue her just a touch. She is not for fashion wimps because she makes a bold peridot kind of statement.

If I may chime in, one can also make the "other" 7.5% of the sterling silver alloy palladium. That would render it tarnish free forever. At least to me that seems like a practical solution, but then I tend to think differently.

Zeide, those subsidies are a thing of the past. The only government intervention that I am aware of (currently) is to stem the tide of low-end pieces that enthrall the beaders. This is a "collecting" subsidy not a "farming" subsidy.

I've a commission just now for a pearl necklace for the mother of the groom. She has an old double graduated strand which look like glass pearls to me. But they have a sts clasp, with marcasite, which I plan to use on the new necklace.

Fine silver is 99% pure silver. I would imagine it's too soft to make findings, but then again, people make 22kt and 24kt findings which are extremely soft, so I guess findings are out there somewhere. Their strength and ability to hold would be questionable IMO.
