My most recent "Just in Time" column (which you can read here) makes a couple points about the benefits of lean manufacturing that, in hindsight, probably are a bit overzealous, given the times we live in and all that.

Although this is an example, it isn't a very good one. I really didn't see that much of a change in the entire operation and the space savings were pretty minor. We call this doing lean things (that don't necessarily result in any cost savings to the company...well intended but somewhat pointless).

Back in my college days, 25+ years ago, I worked the summers in a windshield manufacturing plant, PPG. As a cutter we wore arm chaps made of a cut resistant materiel(also other safety clothing). I couldn't cut them with a knife but I believe it was before kevlar became popular.

Hello...We bought a place in Jluy and have a Hydromaster chlorinator for our salt watre pool, but of late I noticed that the salt/chlorine output reading on the chlorinator does not seem to work..it also looks as though no chlorine is being produced as the pool water is turning green and murky.
