The First International Privacy and Security Conference (IPSC2008) will be held in Tokyo Nov. 11 - 12, 2008 at Bellesalle Kudan http://ipsc2008.org. The conference, the first of its kind to be held in Japan, brings together the world's leading privacy and security experts from Japan, the European Union, and the United States to discuss issues in common from a global perspective. Kyoto Tool Co. (TSE:5966) has reported that it holds 100 million yen in bonds issued by the Lehman group.

The recent U.S. financial turmoil triggered by Lehman's failure and other events is also having an impact on the fundraising activities of some Japanese firms. Takes Group Ltd. (TSE:7719) said Friday that it did not receive payment for some of the new shares it issued in a private placement. This is because some investors slated to provide money to the investment fund acquiring the new shares were no longer able to do so because of mounting U.S. financial system woes, according to an investor relations official at Takes.

Even though the company was unable to raise the amount it had planned, "we do not have any problems with our funding," the IR official said.
