Congress brings out 'Indore angle' in blast incidents - Zibb.com
New Delhi, Oct 31, 2008 (Asia Pulse Data Source via COMTEX) --
With the arrest of Pragya Singh Thakur providing it a stick to beat the BJP on the plank of terror, Congress today spoke of the "Indore angle" to various incidents, including the blasts in Samjhauta Express and those at Malegaon.
"In Samjhauta Express, the suitcases were from Indore and the victims were Muslims. At the Ajmer Sharif incident, the newspapers wrapped were from Indore and the same was the case at Malegaon," party's General Secretary Digvijay Singh told reporters.
Noting that Pragya Singh's family had settled down in Indore, he alleged these were the "same sort of people involved" in the Mhow incident.
He said with her family now shifting to Surat and Pragya campaigning for Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi in 2002, her NGO had got a lot of funds.
"They are part of the same gang. The Bhonsala Military training school at Nashik had been training them," he said adding that those who were accidentally killed in the blasts at Nanded were also trained by the school.
At the same time, he disagreed with attempts to involve BJP chief Rajnath Singh with Pragya contending that it was not proper to pin him down on the basis of a photograph.
He also dismissed as rubbish reports that Pragya's father was in the Congress.
Asked how much the Pragya episode would help the Congress politically or would lead to a backlash, Singh said "forget about politics. A criminal is a criminal, Hindu or Muslim. It does not make a difference".
Singh admitted that Congress leader Ajay Singh had organised some functions of Swami Avdheshanand of Hardwar who is the guru of Pragya.
