Learn about the Forensic Technologies: New and Growing Markets - Zibb.com
NEW YORK, Nov 13, 2008 (BUSINESS WIRE) --
Reportlinker.com announces that a new market research report related to the Medical devices industry is available in its catalogue.
Forensic Technologies: New and Growing Markets
http://www.reportlinker.com/p096631/Forensic- Technologies-New-and-Growing-Markets.html
(Due to its length, this URL may need to be copied/pasted into your Internet browser's address field. Remove the extra space if one exists.)
Technology advancements in forensics have been of considerable import in recent years. Recent examples include improved fingerprint recovery from metals, such as gun cartridges and bomb fragments, use of the chemistry of color to identify chemical and biological weapons, and sensing technologies that are improving the detection of drugs and explosives at security checkpoints. Other advancements include portable DNA profiling techniques used at crime scenes, greater accuracy in ascertaining the age at death of victims of crime, and developments in scanning
These technological advancements have reduced per unit costs in practical applications, thus enhancing the affordability of forensic applications and increasing their market penetration.
Greater use of DNA testing and other technologies has also brought high visibility to forensic testing. The number of crime laboratories in the U.S. performing forensic analyses has grown from 300 in 1999 to an estimated 475 in 2007. Looking at just the top 50 publicly funded forensic crime labs, such labs now have an aggregate annual budget of about $360 million.
These laboratories analyze hundreds of thousands of samples annually. Although the market for forensic analyses and related products is smaller than the market for biotechnology and pharmaceutical products, crime laboratory analyses serve a critical function and the forensics sector will expand significantly in the future.

ISRA-PVF Demands That Candidate Dianne McGuire Come Clean Over Threats to Close Naperville
CHICAGO, Oct 21, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX/ --
The following was released today by the ISRA Political Victory Fund (ISRA-PVF):
The ISRA-PVF is calling upon Dianne McGuire, Democratic candidate for the 96th House District seat, to come clean on her promise to shutter the Naperville Sportsmen's Club should she be elected.
In recent days, the ISRA-PVF has learned that McGuire campaign workers have been telling Naperville residents that, if elected, McGuire would utilize state agencies such as the EPA and the Illinois State Police to shut down the sportsmen's club, "...once and for all." Although McGuire's campaign workers are promising she'll close the sportsmen's club, such promises do not appear in any of the candidate's campaign literature or on her Internet page. Therefore, area sportsmen are very concerned that McGuire has, as part of a hidden agenda, plans to close the club.
"Naperville Sportsmen's Club has been a vital recreational resource for decades," said ISRA-PVF spokesman Richard Pearson. "The club provides an unmatched opportunity for area residents to participate in the exciting sport of trap shooting and serves as a hefty source of revenue for the Naperville Park District. By requiring the use of steel shot instead of lead, the club has taken a leadership role in the movement towards 'green' trapshooting facilities."
"We've seen attempts to shut the club down in the past," continued Pearson. "Those attempts have been purely political in nature -- pushed by organizations that dislike hunters and sportsmen as a matter of principle. In every case, those attempts to shut the club down have met with an outpouring of solid support from citizens who understand the club's importance to the recreational community."
"If Dianne McGuire has plans to shut the sportsmen's club down, then she should have the courage to step up and publicly declare that intent," said Pearson. "Keeping such a significant plan secret does a great disservice to the citizens she claims she wishes to serve. The residents of the 96th District want to hear now, today, just what Dianne McGuire has planned for Naperville Sportsmen's Club."
The ISRA-PVF is a political action committee affiliated with the Illinois State Rifle Association. A copy of our report is available for a fee from the Illinois State Board of Elections, Springfield, Illinois.
