BEIJING, Nov 26, 2009 (SinoCast Daily Business Beat via COMTEX) --
Chinese telecoms equipment provider Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. lately completed a round of upgrade over the Greek-based mobile network of Vodafone Group PLC (LSE: VOD), citing a report.
Constructed by Huawei, the Vodafone network is now capable of offering HSPA plus services with the theoretical maximum downloading and uploading speeds of 28.8Mbps and 5.8Mbps, respectively, said technicians, adding that the recorded highest user downloading speed was 22Mbps.
Vodafone is expected to offer its HSPA plus MIMO mobile broadband services in the Greek capital city of Athens first and spread the business in the whole country by the end of 2009.
Entering Vodafone's equipment provider name list in November 2005, Huawei signed an agreement this February with the European telecoms operator about their strategic partnership, in the presence of Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao and the UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown.
In addition, Huawei has been ordered by Vodafone to build telecoms networks in countries like Ghana and Czech as well as start Femtocell and 800MHz LTE research with the partner.
