The Society of Chief Librarians has announced a new scheme enabling readers to borrow books and other items from any public library in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. More than 4,000 libraries have signed up to the scheme, which becomes operational today (28th September).

A new field has been added to the WorldCat Registry to help users sign up for a library card, once they find their local library through WorldCat.org. This new field, called "Library Card Form Page" lets you add the URL for your library card sign-up form to your Registry profile.
