Bushehr I and II Nuclear

The 1,000MW Bushehr power plant in southern Iran finally started up in March 2008, nearly 35 years after Iran signed the original order. The plant cost around $1bn, and is actually near the town of Halileh, 12km from Bushehr.

Environment Agency - Nuclear industry discharges - background and data

Unlike fossil fuels, electricity is generated from nuclear fuel with only small emissions of carbon dioxide. Water used for cooling fuel elements and coolant gases are discharged to the environment, although controlled discharges to the atmosphere are made relatively infrequently.
